History of the Romano's
The family business started back in 1946, when grandfather Giacomino Amalfitino opened the second pizzeria in Detroit located on Mack and Mt. Elliott. Papa Gennaro Romano was so inspired, he opened another pizzeria on Gratiot and 7 Mile Rd. As the business grew, Papa Gennaro opened another pizzeria on 12 Mile and Schonner, this is where I took a liking to the business. I worked along side of my father for many years, then went to college and sought a different trade, but I was always drawn back to the restaurant business. So, I went west to Houston Texas, where I opened Romano's Family Dining. For 10 years my family and business grew. One summer we took a vacation to Florida. Two weeks and I was hooked. We packed up and moved to Citrus County. I opened Romano's Fine Dining in Crystal River in 1998. With my wife, daughter and son working together we built a nice family business. Now the 4th generation is ready to continue the family business. We decided to open in Inverness, where my daughter Nicole and I will help carry out the wonderful tradition.
Thank you to my grandfather Giacomino and Papa Gennaro, who put me on this well worth journey.
